Overview of A.N.M. Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery

The average fee of the complete course is 8000 to 30,000 INR. There are many types of diploma in nursing courses, including ANM and GNM. Among this ANM is the easiest diploma nursing course.

Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) is a diploma in nursing course. It focuses on the health care study of various individuals. It is all about setting up equipment, the procedures done in operation theater, giving proper medication to patients and maintaining the records. ANM graduates can be called as Basic Healthcare Workers. Though their basic focus is upon children, women and elderly people. The duration of a nursing diploma in ANM ranges from 1 to 3 academic years.

A.N.M. Course Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for ANM or getting admission in ANM College requires passing from 10 + 2 with arts or science stream. Unlike other medical courses, it is not required to pass from 50% in 12th boards. Additionally, core subjects also don’t matter, and art student can also apply just as much as a Science student.

A student with 40% in boards can also apply for this exam. Minimum age requirement for candidates is 17 years old. And the maximum age requirement is 35 years old. Also, the student should pass 10th standard from Central Board of Secondary Education. This course is eligible only for female candidates with no exception for any male student. Few colleges give admission to the students based on their score in 12 boards and personal interview while others organise their own entrance exam. Marks of entrance exam required for the admission in this course are different from college to college.

The student must have tremendous patience to complete the course. Students should have punctuality and alertness of mind to gain precision. The minimum time to complete the course varies for different colleges. Having a good team spirit being physically fit, being able to communicate with others are few skills that are required.

A.N.M. Course Syllabus

Syllabus of ANM diploma course varies from Universities and Schools, major subjects covered in almost all the areas are as follows:

Year 1: Community Health Nursing, Health Promotion, Primary Health Care Nursing 1 (Prevention of diseases and Restoration of health), Child Health nursing.

Year 2: Midwifery, Healthcare Management.

Candidates must have adaptability, empathy, organisation along with flexibility and time management. They should have leadership qualities with determination and tenacity. Also, candidates learn Nursing, Midwifery and other factors of the hospital. Or one can opt for higher education such as Bachelor of degree. Furthermore, one can choose the option of military nursing. One can also become a psychiatric nurse and work with patients dealing with emotional stress and depression.

A.N.M. Career Scope

Students get the opportunity to study nursing, along with time management, leadership, tenacity, determination, and researching ability. Career scope of a student studying this course is high since they can get a starting salary of about 10k to 12k per month easily. A maximum wage of about 3 lakh per annum can be easily obtained after finishing this course.

The scope of this course is high in the sectors such as Rural Health Centres, NGO’s, Community Health Centres, Government Dispensaries, Old Age Homes, Government Hospitals, and much more.

One can get several employment opportunities like in Community Healthcare Centre, Content writing (medical), Medical colleges, Medical Labs, Nursing homes, Self clinics. Other job profiles include being an Application Specialist, Certified Nursing Assistant, Community Healthcare Nurse, Home Care Nurse, ICU Nurse, Infection Control Nurse, Nursing School teacher, Nursing tutor, and Staff Nurse.

People can go for teaching jobs if you don’t want to do such employment work. Candidate must be physically fit in terms of health because it requires a lot of hard work.
